Reminder: First Wednesday is July 2

First Wednesday, President Harrison’s town-hall style meeting open to the campus community, will be held Wednesday, July 2, at 8:00 a.m. in the Conference Center Ballroom, fourth floor WD. The meeting will also be live streamed at, where you will be prompted to enter the password: cougars.


Fourth of July holiday closings

College offices on both campuses and all regional learning centers will close at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, due to the Red, White and Boom event in the downtown area.  Evening classes will be held as scheduled. The following parking lots will be closed for use by city vehicles at Red, White and Boom:

Thursday morning July 3, at 6:00 a.m. - Lot 32-S will be closed all day.  The Columbus Police will use the lot for their vehicle parking.

Thursday afternoon July 3, at 4:00 p.m. – The Parking Garage vehicle entrances will be closed.

Thursday afternoon July 3, at 4:30 p.m. – The doors from the Pedestrian Bridge to the garage will be locked.

Saturday morning July 5, at 6:00 a.m. – The Parking Garage will reopen.

Special note:  All pedestrian traffic into the garage will be restricted starting at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday July 3, and no one will be allowed to enter the building or watch fireworks from that location.


Student Affairs to change name July 1

As of July 1, the Office of Student Affairs will be known as the Office of Enrollment Management and Student Services. The Office will continue to incorporate all of the same departments as previously, but the name change is particularly reflective of the increasing importance of enrollment management for the success of Columbus State as it moves forward.

Reminder: Long Street Cultural Wall event is July 10

The event will honor the significant local artists, landmarks, community leaders and pioneers-bridging the past with the present—who have been an integral part of the Columbus story. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy live music, food trucks and plenty of fun for the kids on Thursday, July 10, from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. You can RSVP by July 6 online here: Cultural Wall.

Summer is in high gear and Columbus is hopping with all sorts of fun summer events. July is the CoGo bike share’s birthday month with lots to celebrate. At the birthday celebration on Friday, July 11, Mayor Michael B. Coleman will be making the biggest announcement CoGo has made since its launch. So now it's time for your membership renewal.

If you have a CoGo membership, your membership will be automatically renewed so you don't miss a day of riding. CoGo will be sending out reminder emails leading up to your renewal to remind you that it's coming.

The James Care Mammography vehicle will be on campus Monday, July 7, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the visitor meter spaces across from Nestor Hall. Call the scheduling department to make an appointment at (614) 293-4455 between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
