Exercise specialist a ‘terrific product’ of Columbus State

Dustin Iacovone earned his associate degree in Sport and Exercise Studies, completed his bachelor’s degree at Capital University, ran varsity track and cross country, then was hired as an exercise specialist at Columbus State, where “he is committed to doing his best every day,” according to his personal training client Dr. Mary Lewis

Lewis nominated Iacovone for Staff Employee of the Month because “without Dustin’s support, I know that a number of faculty and staff would not be as healthy as we are currently!”  Iacovone was given the award at the December 2 First Wednesday meeting.

"I know that a number of faculty and staff would not be as healthy as we are currently!”
- Dr. Mary Lewis

Iacovone also serves as the cross country team’s head coach, and recently returned from the NJCAA national meet with an All American, Stevie Shepherd, who finished in 15th place out of a field of 130 runners.  Cross country returned as a varsity sport in 2015 after an eight-year hiatus.

Lewis even convinced Iacovone to train with her for the 2015 Columbus Marathon, but when she “got injured and bailed on him,” he kept training and finished the marathon in 43rd place with a time of 2:48, qualifying for both the Boston and New York marathons!

“Not only is Dustin a wonderful employee, he is a terrific product of Columbus State,” said Mandy Cecil, his supervisor. “He is a reliable, hard-working and compassionate employee and person.”

Log in, select “General | Campus Calendar Options,” and the screen will show which option you are currently subscribed to.  The three options available are:

‘Unified Messaging’ comes to Columbus State

girl on phone

Unified Messaging, or the integration of voice mail and email, is now available at Columbus State.

Unified Messaging provides the ability to receive voice mail messages in Microsoft Outlook, where they can be processed like any other email.  The caller’s experience, when answered by voicemail, will remain the same; your phone’s message-waiting light will still indicate the presence of new messages and you can still retrieve and process these messages from any touchtone phone.

Everyone in the pilot group loved the ability to work with voice mail and email messages using a single interface.  One of the administrators in the pilot said that, “This has revolutionized the way I communicate.”

IT is planning to migrate all voice mailboxes to Unified Messaging in the near future, but if you are interested in having this feature activated for your voice mailbox now, please contact the IT Support Center, at ext. 5050.
