food lineMid-Ohio Foodbank brought its free produce market to Columbus State Tuesday, offering approximately 10,000 pounds of fresh fruits, vegetables and baked goods to the community. Helping set up the distribution tables were, from left, Patty Gabrenya, Greg Phillips, Vickie Hunter, and Phil Porter. Numerous other volunteers helped with the busy market, which was coordinated by Barbara Smith-Allen and the Office of Community and Civic Engagement.

 

Community Relations Commission invites all to ‘Lunch & Learn’

The Columbus Community Relations Commission presents a Lunch & Learn Series called “Building Intergenerational Communities in Education/Volunteering,” Friday, June 19, from 11:00 a.m. through 12:30 p.m., 1111 E. Broad St.  Admission is free. Panelists for the event will include Catherine C. Whitehouse, Ph.D., The Intergenerational School (TIS); Traci Lewis, LMSW- The Ohio State University Office of Diversity and Inclusion; Tiffani Murray, Macklin Intergenerational Institute; and Elizabeth Martinez, Vice President, Big Brothers Big Sisters Central Ohio. Parking is available in the lot off of 21st Avenue. The Series is co-sponsored by Columbus State and Molina Healthcare.

 

Password change program reactivated June 30

During Columbus State’s directory conversion from Novell to Microsoft Active Directory you may have noticed the typical 90-day password change interval was temporarily suspended. This was done to allow the directories to synchronize properly during conversion.

All synchronization work is completed and the password change program will be reactivated beginning Monday, June 30.  If you need instructions on how to change your password, go the online to the IT Knowledge Base for help.

You may wish to be proactive and change your password now to avoid the rush on June 30.

 


Worst at podium

Veterans’ advisor to retire

Terry J. Worst, advisor in Military and Veterans Services, will retire after 31 years of service to the State of Ohio, the last four of which were at Columbus State. “He has dedicated much of that time to assisting and guiding student veterans through the process of utilizing their education benefits,” says Jay Favuzzi, his supervisor. “He has also mentored faculty and staff who routinely interact with our military and veterans students.  His selfless dedication sets the example to be followed.” 

The campus community is invited to join the department at a reception for Worst Tuesday, June 30, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Union Hall 048.

Next College Knowledge session is June 26

Keeping up with changes and new faces at Columbus State can be a challenge! To help employees learn about new college services, resources and initiatives, the Human Resources Department has launched an onboarding and orientation program called the College Knowledge series.
