Celebrate with our graduates!

See some of the most memorable moments from this past Friday’s Summer/Autumn Semester Commencement Ceremony.

Be sure to use holiday break messaging when you’re out

snowy campus scene

Please remember to use “out-of-office” messages for the designated week that Columbus State is closed for the upcoming break. While there is no official wording, here are two templates to help you draft personal messages for email and voicemail. (Please feel free to develop specific messaging that could be helpful to students about your department’s processes, procedures, links, and information.)

Sample email message: “Thank you for your email. Our Columbus State offices will be closed for winter break from December 24, 2016 through January 2, 2017. We will reopen on Tuesday, January 3. Happy Holidays!

Sample voicemail message: “Hello. You’ve reached (name/office). Columbus State Community College is closed for winter break until January third 2017. Please leave a message and I’ll return your call as soon as possible when our offices reopen. Thank you.”

(Also note that while the college is closed, the Columbus State Police Department will be open 24 hours a day as usual during the period.)

New live stream site now available

The Instructional Technology Innovations Department will transition to a new and improved live streaming service, which will be available at The first event to be live streamed on the site will be First Wednesday, scheduled for January 4.

The new service provides a more modern look as well as HD-quality streaming. Please note the new, shorter web address, which should be used to promote all future live streaming events. Those going to the old site will be automatically redirected to the new address.

Open wide! Dental Hygiene students request patients

Dental Hygiene students enrolled for spring semester need patients for their clinical experiences. Connie Clark, faculty coordinator in the department, and Dr. Dan Collins, faculty member in the department, as well as chair Connie Grossman, Ph.D.,  can give anyone interested more information about scheduling appointments for dental cleanings (insurance accepted) that are done under the supervision of licensed dentists.
