Kreger comments on FOX 28

With the political season now in high gear, Columbus State was able to work with producers at Good Day Columbus on FOX 28 to provide a non-partisan expert who could offer context on the political conventions. Assistant Professor Jonathan Kreger appeared twice on the show during the Republican National Convention in Cleveland and twice this week during the Democrat National Convention in Philadelphia. See his most recent appearance from Wednesday’s broadcast:

PC Services to upgrade security app

The Communication Technologies and PC Services team is set to upgrade to the current desktop security application to continue to protect the campus from malicious code such as viruses, Trojans, worms, etc. The upgrade process will take approximately 20 minutes, will involve one reboot, and will require no user interaction once the upgrade process begins.

Once the installation starts, the Symantec Endpoint Protection icon in the system tray may display an error state for a few minutes while the upgrade takes place.  When the upgrade is complete the user will be prompted to reboot their computer.

On the first login after the upgrade has taken place, you may see a popup window stating that Symantec Endpoint Protection is being configured, this is normal and will close shortly.

If you are running a supported version of Firefox or Internet Explorer, the first time each browser is opened, you will be prompted to allow the installation of a browser add-on that will enhance download security.

Please call the I.T. Support center at 614-287-5050 if you experience any issues during or after the upgrade process.

The upgrade will take place August 1 in Davidson, Aquinas, and Eibling halls; August 2 in Rhodes, Madison, and Franklin halls; August 3 in Nestor, Union, Library and TL; and August 4 in Delaware Hall, the Delaware Campus, all RLCs, and all buildings west of Cleveland Ave.

Reminder: IT inventory continues through fall

The IT asset management team will continue taking inventory across the college. It will continue each Friday through the fall.

The team may be in your area in these buildings during these months:

July: Nestor Hall

September: Union, Davidson, Rhodes, Madison and Aquinas halls
October: Franklin and Delaware halls, CT building and the TIC

Note: The IT team will make every effort to be non-disruptive. However, some disruption is unavoidable in order to scan serial numbers on some equipment.
