Governor appoints two new members to Columbus State Board of Trustees

Governor John Kasich has announced two appointments to the Columbus State Board of Trustees. Each trustee term will run through August 31, 2023.

Joseph R. Anthony Joseph

R. Anthony Joseph is the Chief Administration Officer and General Counsel at White Castle. The Bexley resident has been with the company since 2016. He previously served in several leadership roles with Concessions International, LLC, a food and beverage company with operations in several major cities. Joseph also served two years overseas as a Peace Corps volunteer after obtaining his undergraduate degree. He has a Bachelor of Arts in African Studies/History from Yale University and a JD from the Columbia School of Law.

 

 

Burger Corrine Burger

Corrine Burger, of Dublin, is the Columbus Location Leader for JPMorgan Chase, and the Chief Control Officer for the Chase consumer businesses, which serve 61 million U.S. households. As Location Leader, Burger is responsible for the firm’s 19,000 employees and its 11 corporate offices in the central Ohio region. She joined JPMorgan Chase predecessor Bank One in 1991. Previously, Burger worked at the Phoenix offices of Deloitte & Touche. She is an alumna of the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University.

 

 

 

Congratulate 2017 Distinguished Teaching Award Nominees

Students and colleagues have nominated 69 faculty members for the 2016-17 Distinguished Teaching Award. Many eligible members of this group are continuing the review process that culminates with the naming of four winners during the Quality and Team Awards ceremony next June. The selection committee consists of the 2015-16 winners—Elizabeth Betzel, Nicole Brandt, Amy DeLorenzo and Kelli Nowlin—and Dean of Arts and Sciences Allysen Todd. Please join the Distinguished Teaching Award committee in congratulating each of the nominees.

Telling Our Story exhibit on view until December 15

Faculty, staff, students, and community members attended an artist talk and reception on Monday, December 4 in honor of local Filipino-American artist Lewanda Lim’s exhibit Telling Our Story. The exhibit provides a visual narrative and intense commentary on the history of the Philippines and Filipino immigration to America and will remain on display in the Library second-floor gallery until Friday, December 15. Columbus State police sergeant completes leadership training

Sergeant Laura Diamond recently graduated from the Supervisor Training and Education Program (STEP). The three-month STEP program is put on by the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police. It is aimed at newly promoted first line leaders to prepare them for their new roles as supervisors.

Sgt. Diamond is a seven-year veteran of the Columbus State Police Department and is currently a patrol sergeant.

Three students earn NASA scholarship

Three Columbus State students have earned $1,000 NASA/Ohio Space Grant Consortium (OSGC) scholarships this year. They are (left to right) Christian Lambiase, Mechanical Engineering Technology; Katherine Rucker, Construction Management; and Fiovi Agbodjan, Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology. Columbus State is one of eight community college partners in Ohio that participate in a grant program that provides the annual scholarships. Over the past decade, 16 OSGC scholarships have been awarded to Columbus State.

Tortillas food truck: 
Last day of service for autumn semester is Monday, December 11

Service hours this day: 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Tortillas Reopens on Tuesday, January 16

Union Hall Food Court: 
Last day of service for autumn semester is Saturday, December 16

Service Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Food Court Reopens on Tuesday, January 16

Sips and Subway will maintain similar hours during December when the College is open.

Payroll information for end of the calendar year

For the calendar year ending December 31, 2017, the last scheduled working day prior to the pay date is Friday, December 22, 2017.

Following are the cut off times and dates for the pay period ending December 15:

  • Employees should record their scheduled time through Friday, December 15, with any adjustments being made on the January 15, 2018, pay date.
  • Employee cutoff for web time entry December 13 at 11:00 p.m.
  • Supervisor Approvals due by December 14 at noon
  • Police and Facilities time sheets due by December 14 at 8:00 a.m.
  • All other payroll documents due December 14 by 8:00 a.m.
