Celebrating one year!

‘Poets in Black’ is next week

Next week’s Black History Month special event is the annual “Poets in Black,” poetry and spoken word event, which will be held Thursday, February 23, from 12:00 – 1:30 p.m. in the Library Media Studio. If you would like to read a poem, essay or excerpt at the event, contact Crystal Clark. Poets in Black is free and open to the public.


Student Ambassadors offer holiday movie and open mic

Join the Student Ambassadors for a special Valentine's Day matinee featuring the hit movie, "The Notebook.” The matinee will be shown Tuesday, February 14, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Library Media Studio. Enjoy a free movie and snacks courtesy of our Student Ambassadors.

The Ambassadors will also host a student “open mic” the next day, February 15, from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. in the Library Media Studio, where students will be invited to share a poem, essay, rap, or any spoken word form they like. The themes are Black History Month, and Celebration of Love.


Grand Opening for ‘Sips’ is Feb. 20

Come to Davidson Hall first floor lobby to the Grand Opening of the “Sips Café” coffee kiosk, Monday, February 20, from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  There will be free Crimson Cup beverages, cupcakes, and promotions, while supplies last!


Franklin Hall power off Feb. 17

The generator in Franklin Hall will be shut down for maintenance on Friday morning, February 17, which is the day President’s Day is observed at Columbus State and campus is closed. Make sure to shut down your computers and other electronics before leaving on Thursday evening if you have an office in this building.



Learn to understand conflict Feb. 15

Conflict can be a healthy and productive part of the workplace environment. In the workshop “Understanding Conflict,” we will examine the different conflict styles of the Thomas Kilman Conflict module to understand our own go-to style, and explore healthy resolution strategies. The class is offered Wednesday, February 15, from 1:30-4:30 p.m. Register

Couch to 5K workshop offered Feb. 15, March 22

If you want to prove yourself at the annual Cougar Challenge 5K race, to be held Saturday, May 6, at the Delaware Campus cross country course, come for a “Couch to 5K” workshop! These workshops help you establish a routine to complete your first 5K.  All workshop participants receive $5 off their registration for the race.

The workshops will be held Wednesday, February 15, at 11:00 a.m. in WD 1094; and NEW DATE: Wednesday, March 22, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the Delaware Campus, Moeller Hall 130.

Health Rewards briefings offered this week, next week

The next Health Rewards briefing sessions will be offered Wednesday, February 15, at 9:00 a.m. in WD 206; and Thursday, February 23, at 12:00 p.m. in DE 109.

The briefing will introduce the new platform called “Rally” which can help you get healthier, one step at a time, with personalized health and wellness recommendations.  In this briefing, attendees will go through the new web portal at and see the changes for Health Rewards.

As a reminder, all employees and spouse or domestic partners covered under either of the United Health Care plans through Columbus State must accumulate eight points in the Health Rewards Program to maintain the 20 percent payroll contribution. We are currently enrolled in the cycle that runs through June 30, 2017.
