Day of Service recap

On Tuesday, September 19, more than 550 Columbus State staff, faculty, and students fanned out across the community for the fifth annual Day of Service. Volunteers served at 57 different sites, ranging from food pantries to urban gardens. Watch the video below for a recap of the day.

Adjunct Training Conference registration

The Autumn 2017 Adjunct Training Conference will be held on Friday October 13 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Conference Center. The event features more than 20 breakout sessions scheduled throughout the day, and the topics were all requested by adjuncts who attended the adjunct event in the spring. Our plenary speaker is Dr. James May, Faculty Fellow for Innovation and Technology at Valencia College in Orlando, Florida. Full-day conference attendees will receive a stipend of $150. Partial-day attendees will be paid based on the number of sessions they attend. Lunch from community partner L.A. Catering will be provided to all attendees.

Bolton Field hosts K-9 training

On Monday, September 11, several local law enforcement agencies came to train their police dogs on the aircraft at Columbus State's Aviation Facility. The unique opportunity allows the agencies to train on large and small aircraft in an open setting. They also get to use the hangar and building environment to round out the training and give the dogs and officers a "real world" experience. Some of the local departments that were present were The Ohio State University, Cities of Hilliard, Grove City, Delaware, as well as Delaware, Union, and Marion County Sheriff officers.



Daniels presents at Expanded Learning Summit

Tamara Daniels, assistant director in Accounting Services, presented at the annual Expanded Learning Summit “Somewhere Over the Rainbow: A Pot of Gold Opportunities for Ohio’s Students” on September 19.  The event is mandatory training for all institutions that have 21st Century Federal Grants. Daniels was one of three presenters who delivered “Developing Blue Skies While Managing Your Grant to Make Dreams Come True.”



Volunteer at the Restored Citizen's Summit

Columbus State is hosting the sixth annual Restored Citizen's Summit on Thursday, October 26 and we need your help! The event will be held in the Center for Workforce Development (WD) from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and is expected to host over 300 guests. 

Volunteers are needed for event support. Please contact the Office of Student Conduct with questions or complete the volunteer registration form at this link. You will receive a confirmation email with the time and volunteer area for the event. Additionally, there will be a brief volunteer meeting scheduled to ensure all volunteers are well-prepared for the event. 


‘Towards A Game-Changing Resistance’ event at Ohio State

The Student Life Multicultural Center at The Ohio State University welcomes Columbus State to join in a dynamic night of conversation and engagement on Thursday, October 5 at 7:00 p.m. "Towards A Game-Changing Resistance" features Mia McKenzie, creator of Black Girl Dangerous. McKenzie is an award-winning writer and a smart, scrappy Philadelphian with a deep love of fake-fur collars and Black people. She writes about “race, queerness, class and gender in a concise, compelling voice filled at different times with humor, grief, rage, and joy.” Read more about Mia and catch up on her latest writings at

Training on new office supply ordering system

The last day to order office supplies from the OfficeMax website is Friday, September 29. All orders must be approved by close of business on September 29. The new office supply portal with Office Depot will be available on Monday, October 3. OfficeMax and Office Depot merged a few years ago and the college is required to move to the Office Depot ordering platform.

Current office supply buyers are invited to attend training on the new office supply ordering portal on October 3. The training will be in the Conference Center (WD) 404 from 9:00– 10:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m., 1:00– 2:30 p.m. and 3:00–4:30 p.m.

The training will cover accessing the new site, log in and password maintenance, ordering options and other related topics. No sign-up is necessary, just drop into one of the sessions. If you can’t attend one of the scheduled sessions, contact Darrin Albaugh in purchasing at ext. 2641.
