Vendors needed for Week of Welcome Fair August 2

With the start of autumn semester just one month away, the Office of Student Engagement and Leadership (SEaL) is taking reservations for groups wanting to take part as a vendor or exhibitor in the 2018 Week of Welcome Fair.

It will be held on Wednesday, August 29 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. in the Columbus Campus Courtyard. Vendors can begin setting up at 10:00 a.m.

Week of Welcome provides an opportunity for you to inform hundreds of students and employees of the services your organization or club provides. This will feature a number of college departments, student groups (COA's), local community businesses, nonprofit organizations, partnered colleges, and fun activities.

If you would like to participate, complete the form(s) below by Friday, August 17 at 5:00 p.m..

Thursday August 30th 11:00 am - 2:00 pm (Formerly Resource Fair)
This fair features resources and opportunities to connect students to a number of different Columbus State departments, clubs and organizations, local community businesses, and non-profit organizations. Please click here to host a table.

Resource and Job Fair next week in WD

Franklin County Child Support and Student Conduct, on behalf of Columbus State, is co-hosting a Resource and Job Fair on Wednesday, August 8 from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on the fourth floor of WD.

This event is open to all and will offer information on jobs, community resources, child support assistance, legal guidance, and family and parenting support. There will also be resources for military veterans and families. Participants should dress for an interview and bring copies of their resume.

Taste the Future ticket winner announced

Congratulations to Lynda Anderson-Casey who was the lucky winner in the drawing last week for an extra ticket to Taste the Future. Anyone who purchased a single ticket by midnight last Monday was entered in the drawing for a complimentary ticket. If you haven’t done so, there’s still time to purchase tickets for event which is the largest culinary gathering in Columbus. More than 50 food and drink vendors will be on hand.

Employee Resource Group (ERG) anniversary celebration and recruitment

All College employees are invited: Please join the ERG Year One Celebration and Year Two Event Kick-Off on Thursday, August 9 in the Columbus Campus courtyard from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

With ERGs established to support employees who identify as African Americans, Women, LGBTQ, Disabilities, Aspiring Leaders (formerly Young Professionals), Single Parent/Guardian, and/or Caregivers, we strive to help all employees find connection and a sense of belonging in our campus community. Join us for lunch, connect with colleagues, and share your experiences. Invite a colleague and help us create a more welcoming, inclusive, and positive workplace. Successful TRIO fundraiser last week

The TRIO Educational Talent Search program thanks everyone who stopped by the Platform Brewery last Tuesday to support their fundraiser. The donations, combined with the raffle, raised $342. That money will help support TRIO students in need as the new school year begins.


First Wednesday

As July quickly winds down, don’t forget this week’s monthly First Wednesday meeting for staff and faculty: August 1 at 8:15 a.m. in the WD Ballroom.


Disability Employee Resource group (ERG) meets tomorrow

The Disability ERG invites college employees who identify as an individual with a disability, or as a caretaker for someone whose disability substantially affects a person's life, to their gathering on Friday, July 27 from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Stauf’s, 350 Mt. Vernon Ave. (on the ground floor of the View on Grant apartment building).

Columbus State team forming for Heart Walk 

Recruitment continues for the Columbus State 2018 Heart Walk team. The walk raises funds and awareness for the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. Please consider walking on Saturday, August 25 at McFerson Commons, 218 West St., Columbus. Medical Assisting hiring event

Allied Health is sponsoring a hiring event for Medical Assisting graduates. Alumni will be able to explore employment options and connect with local employers. Students graduating this semester may also attend. The event will be held Monday, August 6 from

Concert tonight to honor peace activists, former faculty member

Humanities professor Rocco Di Pietro has announced a "Hiroshima Peace Concert." It is in memoriam of Columbus peace activists Margaret Stansbury and Samir Gharbo who have passed away this year. Gharbo once taught Chemistry at Columbus State. The concert, to be directed by Di Pietro, will be tonight, Monday, July 30 from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the WD Ballroom.




Important Changes:
New Request for Adjustment of Position/Personnel/Pay (RAPPP) Process
Human Resources and Resource Planning & Analysis have been working over the last several weeks on streamlining the RAPPP process. Beginning Monday, August 13, there will be significant changes to the process using DocuSign as the means to route RAPPPs through the approval process. We will be conducting training sessions on August 6 and 7 to discuss the form as well as the new routing process. If you are an administrator with supervisory and/or budgetary responsibilities, it is important that you attend one of these sessions. Please register using one of the following links:

  • Tuesday, August 7 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. training
