At some point, you may be faced with a personal or family illness or other life event that requires you to be away from work for an extended period of time. The Human Resources department is available to assist you in managing the leave you need to handle these life events and ensure a smooth transition back to your role within the College community.

The following resources provide an overview of leave/absence categories:

*Note: Unionized employees should refer to their union contract regarding specific use of leave as it applies to the corresponding agreement.

Employees who must be absent regardless of the reason, need to make sure that they are following department or College leave protocol as they notify their supervisor about absences that require them to be out of the workplace. Employees that do not use web time entry should also be completing a Leave Request Form to document absences where accrued sick, vacation or other leave types are being used.

The eLeave Request Form allows employeesd and supervisors to electronically complete and sign the form, which is then emailed to the appropriate recipient(s). Employees initiating the leave request send the completed form to their supervisor who will then sign and route the approved form to either Payroll or HR for processing. Leave forms are processed by Payroll with the exception of forms completed in conjunction with absences covered under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). These forms are processed by the HR Leave Coordinator as FML and are tracked separately as required by state and federal law.

FML should be submitted within three working days following the period of a sick leave absence. There may be instances when an employee is unable to complete the form and a supervisor may submit the form on the employee's behalf.
