Presidential search forums to be held next weekThe search firm of Greenwood/Asher and Associates from Miramar Beach, Fla., will hold campus forums on Monday, November 2. Greenwood/Asher would like to gather valuable insight and advice from the campus community. Two questions they will ask are:

  1. What should the next president of Columbus State expect to accomplish in the first three to five years?

  2. What characteristics or qualities should the next president possess?

Please bring your questions, concerns and enthusiasm to the forums. Greenwood/Asher needs your assistance in the search process for identifying and subsequently making recommendations for a successor for the next president of Columbus State. Your participation will make a difference.

The forums have been scheduled for Monday, November 2, in WD-435 (Ballroom).

9:00-10:00 a.m. – Staff and Administrators

10:30-11:30 a.m. – Faculty

Greenwood/Asher will return on December 1 to gather input from our students and representatives from our four county districts.

If you are unable to attend the forums but would like to answer the two questions above or have additional comments or suggestions, please send them to Linda Shinn, and she will forward your information to Greenwood/Asher and Associates to include with the information they gather at the forums. Any additional questions or comments should also be directed to Linda Shinn.

cover of guideTime to giveThe Annual Combined Charitable Giving Campaign is now under way, as announced at In-Service, October 28. You can view the campaign Donor Guide by logging onto the intranet, where you can also complete the pledge form. Remember, the Intranet is only available on campus – you cannot log on from home. The 2010 Donor Guide briefly describes the numerous charitable organizations registered with United Way, Community Health Charities Ohio, Earth Share Ohio, Community Shares of Mid-Ohio, and America’s Charities. The pledge form allows you to select a specific charity within an organization, or just select the organization you would like your donation to benefit. You can then send your donation directly to campaign coordinator, Barb Smith-Allen, in Institutional Advancement, Franklin Hall.

Preview the new Columbus State websitePublic comment time is open for the next version of!

The sneak preview is located at The preview is not a working website, but rather mocked-up images of the site. To navigate between pages, go to the “Select A Page” drop-down menu in the upper right-hand corner.
The college hired an outside web development firm, Ed Mullen Studios, to help develop its new website. Ed Mullen was on campus during In-Service Day to provide an overview of the current design. Some highlights:

  1. The proposed site splits college content into eight main sections, each of which would have its own landing page.

  2. It features a more consistent navigation structure (so visitors will always know where they are) and fewer navigation options on the home page.

  3. The home page includes an innovative pull-out box (the orange area) that will provide easy access to college programs.

  4. The design envisions “Big Pages,” which would be easy landing pages that gather related content from different areas of the college. The example includes a page for nursing, which would lead to information about the RN track, the LPN track, continuing education, and other health fields.

  5. The home page devotes more space to “pathways” into the college, although it still includes space for promoting specific programs and events.

The college is actively seeking comments on the proposed design. Please send comments and suggestions to Tony Goins, web content coordinator.
