Wright to receive award from Boy Scouts

Helping to organize an annual Cub Scout tradition has led to a special award for Adele Wright, Ph.D., associate professor in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
Wright will receive the Whitney M. Young Jr. Service Award from the Simon Kenton Council of the Boy Scouts of America at a recognition dinner next week. The honor is given to outstanding citizens and organizations that have made a dramatic impact on the lives of young people in urban and rural communities. Dr. Wright is being recognized for her commitment to the local Pinewood Derby – a yearly handmade model car race for Cub Scouts. While the Construction Science and Engineering Technologies departments host the event, Wright has taken the lead every year to organize it. Past award recipients include Melvin Schottenstein, Mayor Michael Coleman and Archie Griffin.

Brazwell to present at multicultural conference

Kimberly Brazwell, coordinator in the Diversity, Study Abroad and TRiO Programs Department, will present a session at the 19th International National Association for Multicultural Education (NAME) Conference to be held in Denver, October 28 - November 1.
Brazwell will present “Diversity and Global Initiatives at the Community College.” NAME is a professional organization that celebrates cultural and ethnic diversity as a national strength that enriches a society. NAME believes that multicultural education promotes equity for all regardless of culture, ethnicity, race, language, age, gender, sexual orientation, belief system or exceptionality. Kimberly was recently appointed president of the Ohio Chapter for NAME. Read more about the organization online at www.nameorg.org.
