JamQuest logoFive full scholarships go to winner of March 28 “JamQuest”A rare opportunity awaits members of a central Ohio high school band. Columbus State will award up to five full scholarships to the members of the winning band of JamQuest 2009. Combined, the scholarships represent a value of more than $35,000.

Milton Ruffin, a Columbus educator and musician said, “It’s the talent that gets you in the door but education sustains you.” Ruffin is the principal at Columbus City Schools’ Fort Hayes Education Center.

JamQuest takes the annual band event and provides participants with a brand-new top prize: A college scholarship. This year’s prize offers the winning band short-term bragging rights and a lifetime of rewards. JamQuest 2009 reaches out to high school students in a unique way, building excitement about college educational opportunities in the process.

Additional JamQuest sponsors include The Columbus Dispatch and PromoWest, which is hosting the live concert for the band finalists, along with The CW on WWHO-TV and
Power 107.5.  In addition, nighttime radio personality “City” from Power 107.5 and The CW star Brittany will serve as co-MCs.

Tomorrow’s commencement to include two employeesThe Columbus State Grounds Department would like to congratulate two of its outstanding employees who will graduate Friday from the Landscape Design/Build program at the college. Starlene Link and Adam Darst will earn their associate degrees and then jet off to Cal Poly Pomona, Ca. to compete in the PLANET Student Career Days competition, sometimes called the “Landscape Olympics.” Columbus State congratulates Starlene and Adam and wishes the entire landscape team success at the event. Another employee in the Grounds Department, Dustin McDanniel, earned his associate degree in Landscape at the Autumn Quarter 2008 ceremony.

Spring Quarter Welcome Team asking for volunteersThe Welcome Team, Spring 2009 edition, will be helping students on March 30 and 31 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Team will assist students in the lobby near the Student Assistance Center in Madison Hall.
