Welcome Back Week begins today Several activities have been planned welcoming the students back to campus this week, beginning with the Monster College Advantage seminars today at noon and 2 p.m. in the NH Lounge. These seminars teach students how to do financial planning and how to pursue career positions when they graduate.
On Tuesday, September 29, the Intercultural Welcome Reception will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the WD Ballroom. This event is open to students and employees.
Then on Wednesday, September 30, Welcome Back Day will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and again from 4-5:30 p.m. in the courtyard, with all the traditional games, free food, information booths, and giveaways designed to get students involved in campus life. Stop by the Institutional Advancement booth and enter a raffle for concert tickets, or buy a t-shirt for $1—both to benefit Operation Feed!

Reminder: Emergency preparedness training offered Sept. 30The likelihood that you and your family will recover from an emergency depends on how prepared you are. Even though each person’s needs are very different, there are steps you can take to create an emergency plan for all types of emergencies, from fires, floods, and power outages to potential terrorist attacks. The Wellness Initiative, Public Safety and CEWD will offer a training session, Wednesday, September 30, from 1-3 p.m. in Delaware Hall 047 to provide you with common sense measures you can take to prepare yourself for any emergency situation. Volunteers are needed for the 2nd Annual Hispanic/Latino Family FestivalIn celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, Columbus State will host the 2nd Annual Hispanic/Latino Family Festival, Saturday, October 3, from noon to 4 p.m. outside in the courtyard. Last year about 300 people stopped by, and the college hopes to make this year’s celebration even bigger. This event is a great opportunity to experience and enjoy Latin music, food and dance. We'll need assistance in directing people traffic, assisting vendors and entertainers, and welcoming event attendees. To sign up as a volunteer for this event, contactKimberly Brazwell at ext. 2426.
SBDC to host annual “Be the Boss” student entrepreneurship conference Oct. 15Columbus State employees are welcome to attend the annual SBDC conference “Be the Boss” to learn how to set up a small business for your retirement or supplement your students’ coursework. The conference will run from 9 a.m.–2 p.m. in the WD Conference Center on Thursday, October 15. October 3 is Medication Disposal DayOn October 3, OhioHealth and five of its health system’s facilities will host a medication disposal day for the central Ohio and Delaware communities. Keep your family safe, and bring your expired and unused prescription and over-the-counter medications to one of the locations listed, and law enforcement officers will dispose of these medications in a safe, legal and environmentally conscious manner.
