Dean Rogers and Clawdette
Delaware Campus Dean Dr. Jan Rogers mugs with Clawdette the Cougar at Welcome Back Day in Delaware, September 30. Students to conduct lung screening
graphic of lungsTo help celebrate National Respiratory Care Week, the students in the Columbus State Respiratory Care Program will conduct screenings for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) in support of the national “Drive 4 COPD” initiative.

COPD is the fourth-leading cause of death in the U.S. and is strongly linked to cigarette smoking. The goal of this initiative is to help identify those individuals who are at risk for developing COPD and to recommend that they see a physician if indicated by the result of the screen.

The event will be held on Tuesday, October 26, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Nestor Hall Student Lounge area.  For more information contact Mary Ann Canter at ext. 2513 or email

Parking and driving reminders
scene with busA record number of students will be here again this week, and many will be looking for a place to park. The college has continued to increase parking at the Columbus Campus and provide parking information and tips to students.

As an additional way to help students early in the quarter, we would like to ask staff and faculty to consider carpooling or riding COTA during the first week or two of classes. For carpooling, check with colleagues who live near you or go to one of the carpooling websites here:

For COTA bus routes that stop near our campus, check here:
