Renovations to ERC underway this spring

Library ramp
Access to the ERC during construction will be from the east side of the building, down the ramp (pictured) and into either front door.

Security fencing has gone up around the entrance to the ERC as Phase 1 of the renovation to the Library begins. The renovation will reroute the main entrance around to the ramp down to the lower level, and add an amphitheatre-like seating area to the slope that surrounds the entrance. The 19 stone benches that lined the mall will be relocated, and new landscaping and stairs will be installed. Phase 2 will begin in June to update the interior study spaces. A general contractor has not yet been selected for the work, so no completion date is set.

Seasons wrap up for Cougar basketball teams
This season—like all Columbus State seasons under Head Coach Pat Carlisle—had some great rewards along the way, both on the court and off. The men finished with a respectable 23-7 record. What's more, the team also earned a 2.83 Autumn Quarter cumulative GPA. While Carlisle fell just short of taking the Cougars to the national championship for a third straight year, they did compete for the league title and spent most of the year nationally ranked among the top ten. This year also established a new mark for the program: It's the first time the team has won 20-plus games three years in a row.

The Lady Cougars marked their own milestone as Randy Crites led the team for the 16th season as head coach. While the season ended with a 10-20 record, the women competed with conviction through their final game. Women’s team members Sally Sharrier, Elise England, Amy Hagen, Kiara Marshall, Katherine Monnier and Shirrell Gardner all ended the season with over a 3.00 GPA as well.

handbook cover2010 Data Handbook now online
The “2010 Columbus State Data Handbook,” published annually by the Knowledge Resources and Planning Office, is now available on the Columbus State website. On the CSCC homepage, click on “About Columbus State,” then “Accreditation Information,” and then click on “Data Handbook.” Or go to the following address to view:

The Data Handbook contains a wealth of current and three-year autumn trend information on many factors, including student enrollment, student characteristics, and financial and human resources of the college. Most of the statistics were obtained from the Ohio Board of Regents Higher Education (HEI) System. This allows for a consistent data set every year and comparability with other Ohio public institutions.

A scarlet span does safely bring

Of self-improvement by degrees.
You'll find the egg if you, too, dart
Across this useful piece of art.

Can you find this Easter egg? Of course you can! Check out the whole egg hunt here: and watch for future clues!
