Delaware group looking for clean-up helpAs brand-new good neighbors in Delaware County, Columbus State is asking for help working with the Delaware Area Safety Council, which has adopted a portion of Rte 315 between Hile Road and Home Road. Four times a year the Safety Council meets on a Saturday morning and spends three hours cleaning up this section of the highway.

The council is looking for a youth group, work group or organization that would be willing to help them with this task. Their next cleanup day is Saturday, July 17. A brief training, gloves and bags are provided to volunteers. To volunteer on a Columbus State team, contact Barbara Smith-Allen at

Nestor Hall Seminar Room C
In the spring of 2010, the office of Diversity, Study Abroad and TRIO programs held a town hall meeting to discuss student profiling on campus. What resulted was a powerful and honest conversation among minority students about how they feel treated by Columbus State employees and each other. For the next town hall meeting, we would like to invite students and employees to have a conversation on student experiences. For more information, contact Kimberly Brazwell at ext. 2426 or

Be a language and culture ambassador with Cougar Conversation Partners
group of studentsThe Cougar Conversation Partners program matches native English speakers with non-native English speakers at Columbus State to provide an opportunity for individuals to practice language, share cultural heritage and gain confidence in the communication of thoughts and ideas.

Participation in the Cougar Conversation Partners (CCP) program is a great way for you to help students or remain proficient as a language learner.  ESL students receive first priority for matching with conversation partners.

CCP is a joint between the Student Ambassadors Leadership Program and the Diversity, Study Abroad and TRIO Programs Department.  For more information, contact Kimberly Brazwell at ext. 2426 or
