Welcome Team needs you for fall quarter!

Columbus State Employees: We hope you will have some time to share with Welcome Team this autumn quarter.  The Welcome Team Autumn 2010 will be held Wednesday and Thursday, September 22 and 23 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.  We need your support and hope you will be able to join in the fun as we welcome new and returning students to our Columbus State campus. 

Your service has a direct impact on student success at Columbus State.  Your time, patience and enthusiasm create an excitement that makes Welcome Team a valuable experience for all.

This quarter, the Welcome Team will be offering assistance from a tent in the center of campus. If you can join this fall’s Welcome Team, please RSVP to Barbara Allen,  or call ext. 5526 with the times and days you are able to work. She will send you a confirmation within 24 hours.

Fall Legislative Preview for Community Colleges
In this webinar, topics will include the upcoming request for proposals for $2 billion in federal grants under the recently passed Community College and Career Training Program, proposed "gainful employment" regulations, extending tax credits for students, the White House community college summit, the new federal Education Jobs Fund, prospective FY 2011 funding for key programs and the Dream Act, a bill that includes language pertaining to undocumented students. This is an American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) webinar.

Where in the World is Clawdette? -Deadline extended!

The contest is coming to a close, but we've extended the photo deadline to give you a couple of extra days to submit your Clawdette photos. Please email all photos to csbookstore@cscc.edu no later than Wednesday, September 8. Final decision on the winning photo will be made Friday, September 10, with the winner receiving a $100 Bookstore gift card. Watch next week's Update to see who won!

NISOD offers articles, webinars
logoColumbus State is an institutional member of the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD), which is dedicated to the professional development of community college faculty, staff and administrators. The NISOD website has many articles, webinars and conference recordings of interest to community college personnel. (To access some archival material, you will need to enter the username “member” and password “nisod2011.”)
