Screen ’n’ Speak to feature director of “Vincent Who?”

Curtis Chin

In celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, the Columbus State office of Diversity invites you to attend a very special Screen ’n’ Speak movie event with film producer and co-director, Curtis Chin.

On Tuesday, April 12, at noon, in Franklin Hall Room 110, participants will be joined by Curtis Chin, who will screen his film, “Vincent Who?”

In 1982, at the height of anti-Japanese sentiments, Vincent Chin was murdered in Detroit by two white autoworkers. When the judged fined the killers $3,000 and gave them three years of probation, Asian Americans around the country galvanized to form a movement. This documentary, inspired by a series of town hall meetings organized by Asian Pacific Americans for Progress on the 25th anniversary of the case, features interviews with key players at the time, as well as a new generation of activists. "Vincent Who?" asks how far Asian Americans have come since then and how far they have yet to go.

For more information regarding this event, contact Kim Brazwell at ext.2426 or

Nelson, Banks and Brazwell will present a session on Columbus State’s MAN Initiative. The MAN Initiative is a retention-focused, character building and leadership development program for enrolled male credit and noncredit Columbus State students who are interested in planning for lifelong success.

Then, on Wednesday, April 27, the MAN Initiative will host motivational speaker Walter Smith from the radio show “Street Soldiers” for a frank talk with the men of Columbus State. Contact Brazwell for more information about attending this MAN Initiative Rap Session.
