New view of account information coming

Starting the week of July 1, Columbus State will be enhancing the way students view account and enrollment information.

Students will still access CougarWeb in order to view their finance information and to make payments, but the options for managing their account (within the ‘Financial Information’ section) will be more streamlined, will be easier to use, and will provide a greater level of detail.  For some employees who have access to student account information, a corresponding screen is available (SFAV) that allows employees the ability to view the same account information that is available to students.

The new link from CougarWeb will be called “Manage my Account” and students can:

Finally, there will be a new feature that will allow students to generate a copy of their account statement that can be printed or saved for their records.

There will be more detailed information available when students log in to CougarWeb after the enhancements are complete on July 1.

Advising Services hosts “Out of the Box” event

Advising Services will host "Advising Out of the Box" July 8-12, to increase student awareness of the department and encourage students to plan ahead for the next semester.  The “out of the box” events include:

ESL Afterschool students run 5K to raise awareness

girl with trophyThe ESL Afterschool Communities program offered through Columbus State’s CEWD Division was awarded three stipends last year sponsored by Ohio Department of Education, which allowed them to expand their recent “Run For Your Life 5K”event. Students from Wedgewood Village, Emerald Glen and Providence Glen participated in the event by forming planning committees and organizing race details.

Students also participated in an eight-week “Couch to 5K” training program to prepare them for the race.  More than 60 students received new running shoes and finisher’s medals for participating.

Senator Sherrod Brown and the Franklin County Commissioner’s office sent representatives to learn about the community’s needs from student ambassadors that walked the race with them.

The ESL Afterschool Communities programs are an outreach initiative that introduces Columbus State to the community and helps underserved students discover that college is a possibility and exciting opportunities lay ahead through education.

Tim Malloy
, systems administrator in IT, will ride in the annual Pelotonia for his fifth time August 9. Malloy rides to raise money for cancer research in honor of his father who died of leukemia in 2007. 100 percent of every dollar raised by Pelotonia riders, virtual riders and volunteers goes directly to fund cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center—Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute. In the first four rides, Pelotonia has attracted over 11,100 riders and raised over $42 million for cancer research. To donate to Malloy’s ride, go online here: https://www.mypelotonia.org/riders_profile.jsp?MemberID=847
