Columbus State Day makes news

child with cape
This young attendee got his Superhero on after a visit to the Superhero Physics booth in the courtyard.

Beautiful fall weather and an all-out effort by Columbus State faculty and staff made for an excellent Columbus State Day October 12—our 50th anniversary gift to the community.

The Columbus Campus was all decked out with tents and exhibits, food trucks and touch-a-trucks, free books and free classes for everyone.  Classes offered ranged from Positive Parenting to Using Photoshop like a Pro, and from Cooking with Young Children, to Retiring without Money Worries.  There was something for everyone. Read more about the day in the Columbus Dispatch.

The day wrapped up with a special lecture from Dr. Shane Lopez, the world's leading researcher on hope, who taught attendees how investing in their future can pay off.

Reminder: Feedback requested for VP Candidates
Please remember to give your feedback on the candidates for the position of vice president for Information Technology, as they are introduced to campus through the Open Forums.  The link to the feedback form is online here: Feedback Form

The final Open Forum for candidate Brian Rellinger, Chief Information Officer, Ohio Wesleyan University, will be Tuesday, October 15, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the Conference Center Ballroom, fourth floor WD.

in the kitchenChristopher’s Restaurant now on the web

The student-run dining experience, Christopher’s, now has a website where you can find menus, prices, hours and days that the restaurant will be serving each semester. Students in the Foodservice program are required to participate in the week-to-week production of running a foodservice establishment. As patrons of Christopher’s, you will be asked to critic the meal and the students that serve you. The information is reviewed and discussed after the restaurant is closed each week in order to better prepare our future managers in the Hospitality industry.

Briefings on Health Rewards Program offered

Jackie Miller, RN, professor in the Nursing Department, took a moment to reminisce during Columbus State’s recent birthday celebrations, looking back to the day her students gave her a CTI Cougars sweat suit for her baby-to-be Brett, born October 3, 1983. Much later on, Brett met his future wife Erica on a student nursing trip to Mexico.  Jackie now has a bouncing baby grandson, Gavin, to dress up in Columbus State onesies!
