Randall displays head-to-toe style in Women’s Book
Regina L. Randall, Columbus State Registrar, was featured in the “In Her STYLE” section of the December 2013 issue of The Women’s Book magazine. “She has a regal demeanor and polished head-to-toe look,” states writer Dionna Carter. Randall explains how her fashion choices have evolved over the 20 years she has worked in education. She talks about her now-classic style, and reveals that her favorite power color is royal blue. The writers go on to detail Randall’s role at Columbus State in opening doors to higher education to thousands of students.

Faculty: Textbook Updates from the Bookstore
To reduce confusion for students, the Bookstore will now use "All Sects" as the section identifier for all courses that share the same requirements (whether the student is attending the class traditionally or as a distance learner). Any courses with differing requirements will still be listed as In-Class, Web, or Hybrid respectively. You can view our current book list online. IRS decreases mileage reimbursement rate Jan. 1
Columbus State's travel procedure 9-06(A) ties mileage reimbursement rates to the IRS guidelines. The Internal Revenue Service recently announced that business mileage rates will be decreased from 56.5 cents per mile to 56 cents per mile effective January 1, 2014.
Travel forms are available on the Intranet and will be updated to reflect the new rates. Reimbursement forms that are in-transit will have the mileage rate adjusted by the Travel Office for travel that occurs on or after January 1, 2014. Questions regarding the new rates should be addressed to Betty Sugar in the Travel Office at ext. 2421.
Staff Advisory Council collects Toys for Tots
Abubakr Farah, coordinator of this year’s Staff Advisory Council Toys for Tots drive, announced that more than 200 toys were collected this year at a value of $1,855.

Join Staff Advisory Council for the January Brown Bag Lunch, Wednesday, January 29 at 1:00 p.m. in the Human Performance Center (lower level of Delaware Hall). The session is the popular “Couch to 5K” training schedule that gets you ready to run in the annual Cougar Challenge 5K—even if you are not a runner now!
Special basketball double header Jan. 25
Columbus State will host a basketball double header against Edison Community College on Saturday, January 25, with the women’s team playing at 1:00 p.m. and the men’s team at 3:00 p.m. in the Delaware Hall gymnasium. Admission is free for all Columbus State employees and students, as well as children age five and under.
Veteran Services to offer orientation Jan. 7
The Office of Veteran Services will host an orientation session for veteran and military students enrolled for Spring Semester. "Mission Ready Orientation" will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 7 in Madison Hall 103. The event will expose veteran and military students to available college resources and give them an opportunity to connect with their military peers at Columbus State. During this orientation students will learn about the Columbus State services that will assist them with their transition from the military to college life. Presenters from Counseling, Disability, Career, Advising and Veterans Services, as well as Student Engagement and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs will speak.
